Wondering if you need a detox?
When most people hear the word detox, they think of their body getting rid of heavy metals, maybe frequent trips to the restroom, and starvation. This is NOT what I’m talking about. What I am talking about is a whole foods detox which mimics an elimination diet.
My favorite functional medicine doctor, Dr. Hyman, believes in quarterly detoxes as do many other practitioners (including myself). Why? Well let’s think about all of the toxins that invade your body daily:

The goal of detox is to remove the unwanted waste and toxins from your body before disease sets in. A whole foods detox fills the body with nourishing, cleansing foods. A well put-together detox program will work on balancing your acid/alkaline balance, support your adrenals, heal the gut, eliminate cravings, and allow you to identify any foods that are wreaking havoc on your body.
